I travelled to Walnut, CA for the Drum Corps International west coast opener held on June 20, 2009. After stumbling upon SCV’s brass line quite easily, I had to travel a bit to seek out what I really needed, some jungle beats from one of the best battery sections on Earth, the Santa Clara Vanguard.
I brought along my Canon 5D Mark II and managed to record some pretty jaw dropping footage of the Santa Clara Vanguard front line as they warm up for their show. The cymbals were curiously missing from the warm-up zone, I couldn’t find them anywhere.
Sorry kids, I didn’t bring a 5.1 high definition sound recorder along with me. You get the on board Canon 5D microphone for this one, but SCV’s drum line doesn’t disappoint!
