André Feagin is one of the most popular adjudicators in the country, and it’s no surprise. I saw him last year at the Walnut show warming up his brass line and was quite impressed.
I made it a point to visit the Vanguard brass in the lot again this year, and I returned with a beefier audio recording rig this time around. The onboard sound on the Canon 5D Mark II just didn’t cut it last time around. Enter the Zoom H4N stereo field recorder. I captured a few amazing moments with this little box recording in 24 bit 96khz stereo mode, which is far superior to the depth afforded by the 5DMII (16bit 48khz dual mono). Needless to say, the new recording box made this year’s recordings that much better!
